Could Haynesville Shale activity soon return?

At the peak of the boom on the Haynesville Shale over 100 drilling rigs rose above the local landscape, but as demand dried up and natural gas prices fell the number of rigs plummeted to 12.
 
There are now signs that the downward trend that has lasted over 2 years may be coming to an end. Rig count is up to 20 and addressing the Bossier Chamber of Commerce, Matt Koch, Energy Analyst with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for 21st Century Energy says the Haynesville remains viable. Energy sector growth is expected to rise locally and nationally.
 
"We believe that Louisiana and certainly the Haynesville area has a tremendous role and opportunity to help that growth and up our energy security in the United States," Koch says.
