WASHINGTON, D.C.—Following the release of an Environmental Assessment (EA) by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regarding Dominion’s application to build an LNG export terminal at Cove Point, the U.S. Chamber’s Energy Institute President and CEO Karen Harbert issued the following statement:
“Given the tremendous opportunity our nation has for shale development, we’re pleased to see progress continue on critical LNG infrastructure projects such as Cove Point. In particular, the Department of Energy should be commended for their recent efforts to review applications for LNG export projects in a timely fashion.
“FERC’s Environment Assessment provides a comprehensive look at the Cove Point project. Now that the EA has been released for comment, we encourage FERC to move forward expeditiously with the completion of its review of this application and the others that are pending. America has a unique opportunity to supply growing international markets--creating jobs and revenue here at home.”
