U.S. Chamber’s Keystone XL Pipeline Lost Opportunity Tour Visits South Dakota and Nebraska Wednesday

WASHINGTON, D.C.— The U.S. Chamber’s Institute for 21st Century Energy’s Keystone XL Pipeline Lost Opportunity Tour continues today with stops in South Dakota before crossing into Nebraska in the evening.

The highlight of yesterday’s tour stops was a visit to the DooWag Ranch in Buffalo, South Dakota, where owners Jim Doolittle and Karen Wagner showed the Chamber team where the Keystone XL pipeline will travel on their property and explained how they’ll continue to operate their ranch.

The tour will pick up this morning in Murdo, South Dakota, before traveling to Winner, South Dakota and Grand Island, Nebraska.

Wednesday, September 17

Stop 1: Murdo, South Dakota, approximately 8:00 AM CT The hospitality industry will see a big boost from construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. Our team will be meeting with Don Hullinger, owner of several area hotels, to talk about what Keystone XL would mean for his business.

Stop 2: Winner, South Dakota, approximately 11:00 AM CT Local elected officials understand what additional property tax revenue can mean for their community. In Winner, we’ll be meeting with the Mayor and the Sheriff as well as local business leaders to talk about how their community will be able to use revenue from the pipeline.

Stop 3: Grand Island, Nebraska, approximately 5:00 PM CT Nebraska will see $739 million in economic activity in Keystone XL is built. As our tour comes to the Cornhusker State, we’ll be talking about the benefits Nebraskans will see from the pipeline.
