The U.S. Chamber of Commerce launched a marketing campaign that will support drilling in the underground shale formations, which the group says can have a ripple effect across industries, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

The "Shale Works for US" campaign was unveiled Tuesday in Columbus and is being run by the chamber's Institute for 21st Century Energy, the newspaper reports. It will use its "multimillion dollar budget" on educational and advocacy programs throughout Ohio before moving into other shale-producing states.

The campaign will focus on the direct jobs that can be created by shale drilling and on the indirect impact it can have on other industries, such as petrochemicals and manufacturing, the newspaper reports.
