W.Va. should be wary of EPA’s push to regulate

Now, the next battle in the War on Coal is about to begin. Through new greenhouse gas regulations, EPA is attempting to expand its reach beyond traditional environmental issues and assert regulatory control over most of the American economy.

As state and national business leaders, it is our responsibility to create American jobs and protect the economy from the potentially devastating impacts of this agenda. Like every other American, we support the environment and we want a cleaner and better energy future. But far-reaching regulations that will create major economic pain with little or no global benefit are not the way to advance our country’s economic or environmental goals.
 
That’s why we joined 75 other state and local Chambers in warning the Supreme Court about the broad economic threat presented by EPA’s greenhouse gas regulatory regime. In addition, we’ve established the Partnership for a Better Energy Future, a diverse coalition of over 130 organizations supporting a more practical approach that will ensure availability of reliable and affordable energy for American families and businesses.
